How this website is edited

This website is written and edited by Jonathan S. Hausmann, MD, a pediatric and adult rheumatologist affiliated with Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. It is a personal educational website; the institutions do not endorse its content.

Different kinds of content

Patient guides explain conditions and help prepare for care. Clinician articles discuss clinical reasoning and evidence. Personal stories describe an individual’s experience. Historical recordings and articles reflect their original context and are labeled when included in the library archive.

Sources and uncertainty

Medical guides link to professional recommendations, research or reliable patient resources. A consensus statement, a clinical trial, a cohort study and an individual story offer different kinds of evidence. A new publication does not automatically change care for everyone.

These pages are educational summaries, not exhaustive reviews. They do not replace evaluation by a treating clinician. The site does not provide an individual diagnosis, prescription or emergency response.

Authorship and dates

Credits should identify the people responsible for the writing and any additional review. A publication or content-update date tells you when material was added or changed. It is not a claim that an independent specialist has reviewed the page. Design or navigation changes do not constitute a medical review.

Clinical content should be reconsidered when relevant guidance or safety information changes. Readers should consult the linked original guidance and current product information when making professional decisions.

Disclosures

Dr. Hausmann has previously served as a consultant to Novartis. Novartis had no relationship to the talks adapted for this website and had no input into the website articles. See the disclosures page for the website’s funding and affiliate-link information.
